Approved Tree List
Approved Tree List

This is the list of the most common trees that most local nurseries sell several varieties of. For the most part you need a 2-inch caliber deciduous tree for placement and/or any pine/evergreen at least 6 feet tall are fine.

When planting a new tree, remove the old tree, then over dig the new hole at least 2 times the size of the tree ball. Then put in clean topsoil for the best result of your tree living. Any trees close to the sidewalk should be maintain/pruned as not to hang or interfere with pedestrian/bike riders on the sidewalk.

Most homes should have at least one tree (Depending on your phase) in the front yard. Check with District if unsure. Tree placed in yard does have some exemptions and this is approved by ACC only. Exemptions would be some Cul-de-sac’s lots due to radius, street light poles, utility pedestals, fire hydrants, Town site triangle and distance from driveway.

NOTE: large root systems on some species of trees, do not plant near fence, walk or driveway.

  • This list of trees is just a general list, several sub species of each tree are available; Local nurseries have found most of these trees seem to grow well in this area.
  • Consult your landscaper, arborist or local tree nursery on a tree that will work for you and the location of the tree placement.
  • Make note of minimum tree requirements in your yard for your area/phase of development. Trees in your yard should be at least 5 feet from sidewalks, driveways, property lines and fences.
  • Always call 811 for utility locates before any digging.
  • No advertising signs allowed in yards.

Covenants & Guidelines

Metro districts are independent governmental entities formed to finance, design, acquire, install, construct, operate and/or maintain public improvements that are not otherwise being provided. Like any other governmental agency, there are restrictions (covenants).

A covenant “in its most general sense and historical sense, is a solemn promise to engage in or refrain from a specified action.” There are more than 1,890 Metro Districts in Colorado.

Non-Potable Water

The non-potable water system will be turned on in late May when water is available (which depends on the winter/spring runoff). Homeowners registered on the website will be notified by e-mail along with the days and times their system can be run.

Non-potable/Home Irrigation Water Fee

Windshire Park Metro Districts operate the non-potable water system for home irrigation. Homeowners are charged a monthly fee for non-potable water during the months of May through October of each year. Rates are approved by the Board of Directors. There is no pro-rating of non-potable water when restrictions are in place. Residents pay actual cost or less for operations and maintenance of the non-potable water system. The non-potable water system is turned on after the river water that feeds our storage pond is running. The date changes from year to year based on prior year’s snowfall/weather conditions. Non-potable water will normally be turned on in late May. Non-potable water shuts down the 3rd Friday of October and the system is blown out on the 3rd Saturday of October.

The Board approved non-potable water rate is $252.00 per year. Water billing of $42.00 per month begins late May with the final payment on October 1st. Rates are subject to change.

Turning on the Non-Potable Water Irrigation System

The non-potable water system will be turned on in late May or early June. Exactly when the water is turned on depends on when the river water that feeds our storage pond is running. The date changes from year to year based on the prior year’s snowfall/weather conditions.

Winterization of the Non-Potable Water Irrigation System

The third Saturday in October is the blow out day for the entire non-potable water system. The system is shut-off on the day before the blowout to allow the contractor time to hook up air compressors and to open and close necessary valves in order to accomplish this blow out on such a large system. See below the attached blow out schedule.

This scheduled blow out of the non-potable water system is your opportunity to blow out your privately owned irrigation system.

Snow Removal
Snow Removal Statement and Map

Town of Windsor Snow & Ice Removal

The primary goal of the Public Services Department is to provide the traveling public with the safest driving surface possible in an efficient and economical way with resources available to the Town of Windsor during snowstorms.

The town strives to remove snow and ice from our roadways as quickly and efficiently as possible while keeping roads open and essential traffic moving. This does not mean bare and dry pavement should be expected after each snowstorm. The goal of snow and ice operations is to return road surfaces to safe winter driving conditions as soon as possible.

It must be recognized that each snowstorm has its own character with variable conditions, such as air and pavement temperatures, wind speeds and directions, precipitation rates and types, timing, duration, and traffic activity. This plan must remain flexible and take into consideration these variables.
